5 Quick Penny Saving Tips
Sometimes it is easy to lose sight of the little changes that add to big differences in your monthly outlay. I’d like to just take a moment to go over them again.
Don’t waste your energy: turn off unused lights and appliances
While that statement seems so obvious unless you have made it a dyed in the wool habit for you and every family member, I bet you could get up and go on a house tour and find something left on. If you have young or teenage kids who are finding it hard to remember to switch things off, a household electricity monitor is a great tool for teaching them how much energy and(and money) is wasted.
Switch Bulbs
CFL bulbs (compact fluorescent lightbulbs) use 75% less energy than standard lightbulbs but still provide excellent lighting. A simple switch of lightbulbs in lamps and light fixtures could save you a lot of pennies over the year. Read more about CFL bulbs . Find cheap CFL Bulbs on eBay.
Don’t Be Such a Drip!
Apart from being teeth-grindingly aggravating, that drip-drip-drip of water from a leaky faucet echoes the sound of money leaking from your bank account. Make it a point to go round the house checking faucets and also check your water meter to be sure that even with all taps tightly off there is no pipe leakage. SImply if all water appliances are off, your water meter should not be moving. If it is you need to find the problem pipe and get it fixed.
Cut the Cackle
Phone bills. Whew! Who m¡needs that every month. Most likely not you. Emails, Skype and other internet services can half your monthly long distance phone bills. Let your fingers do the walking on the keyboard and search google for internet communications services that suit your needs. A straightforward search for cut telephone bills will already bring you more choices than you can shake a stick at.
Wrap It Up
Look at this two ways. First if your home is properly insulated you will need to spend less money heating it and you will definately be paying less towards heating the street with all the energy that is escaping through cracks and crevices and seeping through the walls.
Secondly if each of your family thought to reach for a pullover instead of the thermostat, you would save on heating bills there too.
Remember its the little things added together that make the biggest differences over time. A penny saved is a penny earned.Technorati Tags: Saving, Budget, Saving Tips
