Money Saving Products

One way to save a considerable amount of your household budget is, obviously, to cut back on purchases. Couples who smoke or who enjoy sharing a bottle of wine every evening might be shocked to realize just how much money these two habits are costing them.

That is all very well, but not everyone is ready to give up smoking or wants to sacrifice their evening glass of wine. Similarly, if you have a family pet, you might save piles of money on vet bills, dog food, aquarium supplies by simply getting rid of Rover, but I certainly wouldn’t consider that, would you?

There are ways to save money on products that you use and need everyday even though it seems to go against the grain to pay out money in order to save money.

Most households can do a better job of conserving the electricity they use by buying
more efficient lightbulbs, using electricity usage monitors and thermostats and by installing products to insulate the house and direct warm or cool air to where it is needed depending on the season. The initial small outlay to buy each of these items will result in significant and sustained savings in the long run.

Household waste is another area that improvements can usually be made. A prime example, especially given the shocking amount of money thrown out each year along with food waste thanks in large part to poor food planning would be to invest in a program that helps you better organize your grocery purchases, food preparation and consumption. A humble payment of $20 for a system like Menu in a Box can save over $1000 a year in wasted food.

Savings are also available on and off line through coupons and vouchers in the Sunday newspapers and the websites that promote these coupons but you can also find travel and gift vouchers and coupon ‘clutches’ for sale on eBay. You might pay $55 for a $100 gift voucher or find flight vouchers at half the price of the original flight. Penny pinchers would do well to make a habit of scanning the eBay voucher page regularly as there is often treasure to be found there in the savings game.

Okay, so I know that these money savings products are not as sexy and exciting as say … water for gas … so let’s talk about hyped up junk products for a moment.

Water 4Gas is an actual website. If I linked to it and you wnt there and bought into that snakeoil garbage, I’d make money. The sales copy on that page is so good, so effective, that if you were feeling particularly vulnerable you might just go ahead and buy it. Heaven knows enough people have done so already that even Google is alert to the scam and has stopped people from advertising that junk via  Google Adwords.

It is entirely possible to save hundreds of pounds on your household expenses but the way to do so is not with some magical cure-all. The products that I have linked to above may be work-a-day and unexciting but they are based on sound principles and energy efficiency. They work.
